Welcome to the San Francisco Bay AmeriCorps Community
Hi there. You've found the San Francisco Bay Area AmeriCorps Community, an informal* gathering of AmeriCorps volunteers from all over the Bay Area. Newcomers and current AmeriCorps volunteers can find affordable housing, cheap home furnishings, job guidance, social connections, and other help from the group. Community-minded Bay Area citizens (including AmeriCorps alumni) can use our online classifieds to host AmeriCorps volunteers and offer cheap items for the home.
Use of the website is entirely free forallBay Area AmeriCorps volunteers and potential Housing Hosts and donors.
Housing Hosts and home supplies donors don't need to register in order to post in the free classifieds: just hop right on!
Registration is open to all AmeriCorps volunteers in the Bay Area. You need to register in order to post in our online forum-- the CorpsBoard-- and to take advantage of all the benefits that come with our Membership Card (which is also free).
*What does "informal" mean? Well, it means that we are not officially affiliated with any person or organization. AmeriCorps and the Corporation for National and Community Service—lovely agencies though they are—do not officially support us. We're just a bunch of volunteers who formed a community because we're better together than apart. Long story short: you can't sue any organization and blame it on us.
The AmeriCorps Bay Area Alumni host events, give us pointers on job/AmeriCorps stuff, and contribute to our online classifieds. All current members are welcomed to register: check 'em out.
Seen that logo and membership card? Those things don't just Photoshop themselves. Some human does that. Sara Clough is that human. She's doin lots of pro-bono stuff right now, so check her out if need to add some class to your project on the cheap.
